On October 15, 1905, the Civil Governor of Seville officially announced the creation of Sevilla F.C. In 1908, the team played its first official game, against Recreativo Huelva. Sevilla is an unusual football club, the club is owned by the fans.

The team was founded on October 28 1900 by Angel Rodriguez, an engineering student at Universitat de Barcelona. The club originally played in bright yellow shirts, the colour of the shorts been left to the individual player. In 1910, the RCD Espanyol chose blue and white to be the colors that would adorn its jersey and shield.
